Weißer Würfel

Unternehmertum lebt von Ideen. Wir zeigen weltbewegende und längst vergessene Patentzeichnungen: vom iPhone bis zur Schüttelbadewanne.
ERFINDEN

Ohne kreative Ideen ist Unternehmertum nicht denkbar. Und so dreht sich der Weiße Würfel, in dem wir auf Farben verzichten, um weltbewegende und längst vergessene Patente. Es ist eine Hommage an Erfinder. 1896 beispielsweise patentierte James C. Boyle ein Begrüßungsgerät, das Männern helfen sollte, Umgangsformen zu wahren. Die Vorrichtung hob und drehte einen Hut automatisch, wenn der Benutzer jemanden grüßen wollte. Absurd? Im Nachhinein ist man immer klüger. Aber wer hätte 1903 darauf gewettet, dass ein Augenschutz für Hühner, der sie vor anderen pickenden Hühnern schützt, ohne ihre Sicht einzuschränken, noch im 21. Jahrhundert angewendet wird? Unternehmertum lebt von Ideen, die anfangs verrückt klingen, sich dann aber – in einigen Fällen – als äußerst wirkungsvoll erweisen, wie etwa die Dampfmaschine oder die Glühbirne, das Automobil oder das iPhone. Nein, die Schüttelbadewanne, deren Patentzeichnung wir ebenfalls im weißen Würfel zeigen, setzte sich nicht durch, auch nicht der Badeanzug aus Kork.

Aber brauchen wir heute überhaupt noch Patente? Tesla-Chef Elon Musk zumindest zieht dies in Zweifel. Wir zeigen seinen Blog-Eintrag aus dem Jahr 2014, in dem er ankündigte, ab sofort „im Geiste der Open-Source-Bewegung“ auf jegliche Patentklagen zu verzichten.
