Ein Raum für Stille – mit Tausenden Unternehmertum-Büchern. Dazu 43 angehaltene Uhren, die minutengenau Weltereignisse anzeigen
SCHATZKAMMER
Gerade Gebäude, die auf Kommunikation und Kreativität ausgelegt sind, brauchen auch Rückzugsräume, also Umgebungen, in denen man zur Ruhe kommen, konzentriert arbeiten oder lesen kann. Dazu dient auch die Bibliothek im Erdgeschoss. Mit Tausenden Büchern ist es eine literarische Schatzkammer, ein Ort der Geschichten. Im Raum-Steckbrief formulierten wir, es sei das „Herzstück des Gebäudes. Hier ist der Ursprung, nämlich die Leidenschaft des Schreibens fühlbar, sichtbar und erlebbar“. Neben jeder impulse-Ausgabe, die je gedruckt wurde, gibt es hier Lexika, Biografien und mehr als 3000 Bücher rund um Selbstmanagement, Führung, Vertrieb, Marketing, Strategie und Digitalisierung.
ZEIT-INSTALLATION
An der hohen Frontwand prangt – im Raum der Stille – eine Installation stillstehender Zeiten. Auf einer Fläche von sieben mal vier Metern sind an der hoch aufragenden Wand 43 stillstehende Uhren angebracht, deren Zeiger so eingestellt sind, dass sie jeweils die exakte Uhrzeit eines historischen Ereignisses anzeigen: vom Zeitpunkt, als die beiden Stanford-Studenten Larry Page und Sergey Brin den Domain-Namen google.com registrierten – am 15. September 1997 um 7 Uhr – bis zur Kollision der Titanic mit einem Eisberg am 14. April 1912 um 23.46 Uhr, bei der mehr als 1500 Menschen starben und zugleich ein blinder Technikglaube erschüttert wurde; vom Zeitpunkt, als Bertha Benz sich am 15. August 1888 – frühmorgens um 5 Uhr, als ihr Mann noch schlief – mit den beiden Söhnen in den Patent Motorwagen Nr. 3 setzte, von Mannheim nach Pforzheim fuhr und so die Tauglichkeit des neuen Fahrzeugs demonstrierte, bis zum beiläufigen Satz des Politbüro-Mitglieds Günther Schabowski auf einer Pressekonferenz am 9. November 1989: Um 18.58 Uhr sagte er, seines Wissens sei die Grenze „ab sofort, unverzüglich“ offen, woraufhin sich Zigtausende Menschen auf den Weg machten und die Berliner Mauer stürzten. Es sind Ereignisse aus Politik und Wirtschaft, aus Wissenschaft, Technik und Kultur, die an der Bibliothekswand geografisch, den Himmelsrichtungen entsprechend, angeordnet sind.
BÜCHERUHR
Inmitten dieser stillstehenden Zeiten gibt es auch eine funktionierende Uhr, die die aktuelle Zeit anzeigt: eine Bücheruhr mit einem Ziffernblatt, das nicht aus Zahlen, sondern auch Buchcovern besteht. Die Titel versammeln Tipps, wie man zur Ruhe kommt und sich fokussiert, wie man gut zusammenarbeitet, Prozesse optimiert oder die Dynamik in Organisationen verändert, wie man die Firmenkultur weiterentwickelt oder sich auf künstliche Intelligenz vorbereitet. Und nicht zuletzt: wie man Ideen und Visionen entwickelt.
